中国航发南方工业有限公司始建于1951年，代号331厂，是国家”一五”期间156个重点建设项目之一、国家首批试点的57家企业集团之一和我国早期六大航空企业之一。
公司于1954年8月研制出新中国第一台航空发动机，毛主席为此亲笔签署嘉勉信。此后，公司相继成功研制出我国第一台重型摩托车发动机、第一台地面燃气轮机、第一台涡桨发动机等产品，填补了国内10多项产品空白。
公司拥有生产厂房及设施共30多万平方米，拥有包括世界一流设备在内的各类设备近7000台套，部分零部件关键技术达到世界先进水平，具备了批产第三代和研制第四代中小型涡轴、涡桨航空发动机的工艺和制造技术能力。公司坚定不移走自主发展的产业化、市场化、国际化道路，全力发展领先的核心技术体系，致力成为世界一流的中小航空发动机供应商。
Aecc South Industry Company Limited was founded in 1951 and codenamed 331 factory. It is one of the 156 key construction projects during the national “1st five-year plan” period, one of the first 57 national pilot groups and one of the 6 major aviation companies in early times of PRC.
The company developed the first aero engine of new China in August 1954. Chairman Mao personally wrote the praise letter for this. Since then, the company has successfully developed China’s first heavy-duty motorcycle engine, the first ground gas turbine, the first turboprop engine and other products, filling the gap of more than 10 products in China then. Over the years, the company has developed and produced a total of more than 50 models in six categories: pistons, turbojets, turboprops, turboshafts, turbofans and auxiliary power units. The company’s in-research and in-production aero-engines cover helicopters, trainers, transport aircraft, drones and others, and has now developed into a small and medium-sized aviation engine develop mentand production base in China.
The company has a total of more than 300,000 square meters of production plants and facilities. It owns nearly 7,000 sets of equipment including world-class equipment. The key technologies of some of its parts and components have reached the world’s advanced level. It now possesses the technical and manufacturing capability in third generation mass production of and fourth generation development of small and medium turboshaft, and turboprop aero-engine. The company will unswervingly follow the self-development path of industrialization, marketization and internationalization, and will strive to develop a leading core technology system and commit to become a world-class supplier of small and medium aero-engines.
